Hi Juniors! Many of you did such a great job last week during our Gatsby small group discussions! I am so grateful to those of you who participated and contributed to the discussions. Thank you.
For those of you who are meeting with me on Monday, be sure you come to the meeting having finished the novel - I am going to call on each of you to add to the discussion, and you are being graded on your contribution.
This week we move out of Gatsby and into one of our last two projects - the Social Justice Project. I am really excited about seeing what you create in this activity, especially in light of all the controversies out there in the world right now.
I. Semester Two Final - Social Justice Project
A. Introduction Lesson: Watch the following lesson with my recording as I will go over the basics of our final project of the school year. This activity will be your actual final for the class.

B. Zoom Lesson with further details: On Thursday, we will have a half hour Zoom class lesson to go over these directions AND receive more details on the project.

b. 4th period = 9:00 - 9:30 A.M.
c. 3rd period = 9:30 - 10:00 A.M.
*I have already checked all other Zooms scheduled for Pen HS that day, and there
are zero conflicts.
**Zoom Link - will be emailed to your AERIES registered email one hour prior
to our meeting. CHANGE YOUR AERIES PROFILE if you are not
seeing my emails! You can add your gmail, etc. to Aeries...
II. The Great Gatsby Final Project (for Gatsby...not the semester)
A. PROJECT DUE DATE EXTENDED: I sent out an email on Friday that extended the due date to Thursday, 5/7
1. Why? Because I want to be fair to those meeting with me on Monday as they may
learn details that need to be changed in their project.
2. Where? Turn in your project on Turnitin.com
i. Yes, this is different than what I indicated previously.
ii. If you have a video, turn in a word document or PDF with the link on it.
iii. ONLY ONE PERSON TURNS IT IN - not both of you if you have a partner.

III. Gatsby discussion - Zoom
A. Small Group Discussions: Small group discussions continue on Monday, 5/4. As stated above, come prepared to discuss the novel. Be sure you have read the ENTIRE novel before attending.
B. ZOOM link: I will email you the ZOOM link ONE HOUR prior to our meeting.
*Emails will be sent through Aeries, so check your school Outlook email if you have not yet registered your personal email there.
IV. MAY WARM UPS
All May Warm Ups will need to submit a document containing the following to Turnitin.com:
a. Topic as title
b. Link to video or article
c. background on the issue
d. 2 questions you would have asked the audience
e. Your answers to those questions - for each question, complete what your answer
would be.
*Submit to Turnitin.com by 11:59 P.M. on Thursday, 5/14
