About Sidella

A little background on me in case you are curious - maybe it will "explain" a thing or two!

This is my 22nd year of teaching, my 20th with PVPUSD.  The first two years, I was in my hometown - New Lenox, IL.  Generations of Batsons (my maiden name) never leave that town, so when I declared I could not survive another Chicago winter, they deemed me crazy.  Crazy was growing up at 30 degrees below zero during the winter.  But I have to admit - I love Chicago.  I am a Cubs fan, Bears fan, and (blasphemy) a Notre Dame fan.  Yes, I am a sucker for losing teams.  I see it as devotion (that's what we Chicagoans have to believe).

But I also must admit - I love Southern California.  I have been so lucky to not only live in this beautiful area, but to teach such fine students.  Pen students are incredibly polite and caring and driven - a teacher's dream.  I have taught primarily honors and AP English courses during my time on the hill.  Song coach, English department chair, District curriculum coordinator, RWA leader, Scholar Quiz advisor, dance teacher, AVID teacher, physics boat champion (2014) - all part of my 20 year experience.  I truly love teaching, and I feel so lucky to help and inspire students every year...and to be inspired by them in return.

Outside of work, I am a mom foremost.  I have a daughter who has more energy than me!  Triathlons and Spartan races fuel my side that can't stop moving and loves to workout.  It's my passion outside of teaching, and I believe it makes me a better teacher, for a lot of reasons!

Looking forward to a challenging and fun year.
Mrs. Sidella
